Some Other Top Quality Courses in the area.

The north of Scotland is very lucky in having so many wonderful golf courses. Sure, the four we

have featured on the previous pages are world class, but every time my friends and I play on the

local courses we bless our luck at living and playing in this amazing environmemnt. Those who

have been here before know exactly what I mean, and for those yet to come, you are so lucky to have

all of this still ahead of you.

If you have the time to stay and play these course  we'll help you decide an itinerary that will fit in as
many of these wonderful golf courses as possible
. When you are at Drynie, we only have you and
the rest of your party to worry about.

Old Moray (Lossiemouth)

An hour away from us, (and soon to have a page here of its own), this is a wonderful

Championship Course in the mould of Royal Dornoch which could not be left out of any list.

Nairn Dunbar.

Situated on the shores of the Moray Firth, the Nairn Dunbar golf course, founded in 1899, is a

highly rated Scottish links championship course representing a formidable challenge with its

gorse and whin lined fairways.

The club enjoys a great reputation for high quality competition golf. Renowned for its excellent

condition and friendly reception to visitors, it has hosted many national events such as the

Northern Open Professional Championship, the Scottish Ladies Amateur Stroke Play, the

Scottish Boys Stroke Play, the Scottish Amateur Stroke Play Championshipand the Seniors

Home Internationals.

Brora

A great Golf Course, designed by James Braid, with many wonderful holes. A typical Highland Course,
(if there is such a thing).
In my view the par threes here, (each on a different point of the compass),

are up there with the best anywhere.  http://www.broragolf.co.uk/

Tain

Another brilliant traditional Scottish Highland links course designed by Old Tom Morris and situated

9 miles south of Dornoch. The 3rd hole is claimed as one of the best 18 links holes in Scotland and the
17th acknowledged as one of the top 18 holes designed by Old Tom Morris, but leaving that aside, this

is a very challenging, well maintained and enjoyable golf course. If you have the time, definitely play Tain.

Golspie

A near neighbour  to Dornoch, Tain and Brora, this course is a treat for any keen golfer, and the new
green keeper is fast making his reputation from the imaculate nature of the course. Established in
1889 and designed by the legendary James Braid, Golspie Golf
Club offers a wonderful typical golfing

experience in the Highlands.

Fortrose and Rosemarkie

Another James Braid course, and in this case his remarkable achievement in designing 18 holes
within the narrow Chanonry peninsula is instantly obvious and admired by first-time visitors. Golf writers

enthuse over the course layout and condition, with accolades such as, 'a gem of a course by the sea'.

It is probably the shortest of the courses listed here, but not easy to score on. The course is tight, the
greens as well as the fairways are small and lightning fast. This is challenging links golf and
hugely enjoyable.
